At DCBY we want to ensure that you have the best yoga experience that we can give you. All of our teachers at DCBY are passionate about this yoga and have completed, at minimum, an extensive two month 500+ hour teacher training course.
Studio owner Fiona McNamara, has spent the last few years training and teaching abroad with some of the most senior teachers in this Yoga tradition and is always happy to share her knowledge with you. Fiona is known for her mindful teaching approach and mentors all of her teachers in DCBY to ensure the teaching stays at a consistently high level. We look forward to seeing you in the hot room!
HOW TO GET STARTED?
No need to book, just show up to any class!
Dress lightly(shorts / leggings / t-shirt). Bring a mat and a long towel to cover your mat with, also available to rent at the studio. We have changing rooms with shower facilities and hair dryers. Complete beginners are welcome in any class and all classes are open to students of all levels. It is a beginner’s series but is equally challenging for the experienced student.
First time students should arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of class. Doors open 30 minutes before all classes. Please be on time as the door is locked once the class starts.
Make use of the Introductory month, do as much yoga as you can and watch yourself transform!

ABOUT BIKRAM YOGA
Bikram Yoga is a specific sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises designed to systematically work every muscle, joint, tendon, and gland of your body. Bikram Yoga is designed to work the body’s nervous, respiratory, endocrine, and lymphatic systems while simultaneously boosting the body’s immune system.
The series is practised in a heated room. The heat is not there to make class hard. Practising in a heated room helps to warm up the body faster in order to safely practise each of the postures in the set series, as well as accelerating the body’s natural chemical processes. Essentially the body is flooded with super oxygenated blood whilst flushing lactic acid out of the body. This means that this Yoga can be practised every day and will compliment all other sporting activities.

YIN YOGA SUNDAYS
Yin is a gentle, nurturing, slow-paced yoga style suitable for everyone. No experience necessary. Simple postures are held for several minutes at a time. Through these long holds you will ultimately learn how to sit with yourself in stillness and encourage the body and nervous system to relax.
This healing class will have you feeling challenged, will teach you to accept and surrender, will open your body, will increase your flow of 'QI' (energy/life-force) and will leave you feeling deeply relaxed and ready to float back into your life.
Yin is a perfect compliment to your yang Bikram practice. It will leave you feeling restored and relaxed. We will have a mid day mid month class, and an end of the day end of the month class. Classes are 90 mins. See below for the Sep-Dec schedule.

YOGA BRUNCH SATURDAYS
What could be better then yoga for brunch?! We are so excited to announce this new series of workshops which will take place every Saturday at 12.45-2.15pm. The idea is to introduce a variety of different styles of yoga / movement workshops to the studio and to promote local and not so local teachers. Try something new and throw yourself into something outside of your comfort zone. The workshops will cover a wide range of styles (Vinyasa, handstands, rocket, animal flow, acro- yoga)
All classes will be pitched at an OPEN level. You will not need any experience. We will have different styles on the menu every week. If you have always wanted to try another style of yoga here is your chance. The workshops will be posted on our website and on our Facebook page.

Want to get in shape, build strength, increase your flexibility and look great?!
This one hour class focuses on hip-opening, back bends, lunges, preparation for handstands and much more to target certain body parts in order to improve your strength and flexibility and is a great compliment to your everyday yoga practise.
This class was put together by senior teacher Mary Jarvis (USA), who created a series of ‘homework exercises’ that she could do alongside the 90 minute Bikram series as a way of healing and strengthening her body after undergoing serious spinal injuries from a car crash.
Fiona is honoured to be able to teach this class in her studio.
This is an open level class.
